Bid Date: May 27, 2021
Construction Start Date: September 2021
Construction Completion Date: June 2023
Contract Amount: $12,300,000
Scope of Work:
This project consisted of approximately 26,000 linear feet of new sanitary sewer installation. The new pipeline parallels the West Fork Twelve-Mile Creek beginning near NC84 in Weddington, NC and terminates 4.5 miles upstream at an existing Pump Station. Pipe sizes installed include 24”, 18”, and 8” diameter, which were installed at depths up to 28’. Materials consisted of Restrained Joint Ductile Iron Pipe with Protecto 401 Epoxy Lining, SDR26/SDR35 PVC pipe, and approximately 100 precast concrete manholes. Our crews crossed West Fork Twelve-Mile Creek by “Open Cut Method” eleven times. Along the route, three trenchless road crossings were installed via “Tunnel and Jack Method”, for a total of 340 linear feet of 66” steel casing pipe. Approximately 21,000 cubic yards of trench rock was blasted, with seismic monitoring in place to record all blasts. Upon completion of installation and testing of the main outfall line, the flow from three existing Pump Stations will be transferred to the new pipeline. The three existing Pump Stations will then be abandoned and removed. This project allows Union County Water to expand their current sewer capacity and eliminate future O&M costs associated with the three existing Pump Stations.
This project is tracking to be delivered ahead of schedule and under budget.
